WhatsApp introduces new screen-sharing feature for video calls
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has announced a new feature for WhatsApp that allows users to share their screens during video calls. This feature is available on all platforms and makes it easy to show your screen to others on the call.
During a video call, users can now share what is on their screens with the other person. This is similar to how screen sharing works on popular video conferencing services like Google Meet and Zoom.
WhatsApp’s screen-sharing feature is no longer in beta and is now available for all users. You can access it through the “Share” button, which gives you the option to share a selected app or your entire screen. When you tap the button, a window will appear asking for permission to share your screen. You can choose to share a single application or your entire screen.
According to WhatsApp’s announcement, this feature is useful for various activities such as sharing work documents, browsing photos with family, planning vacations, shopping online with friends, or providing tech support to grandparents. It allows you to show a live view of your screen during the call.
In addition to screen sharing, WhatsApp has also introduced landscape mode for video calling. This mode offers a more spacious and immersive experience compared to the previous portrait option. The introduction of landscape mode may enhance the screen-sharing feature as well.
WhatsApp has been regularly updating its messaging app with new features. Some of these include the ability to edit and change previously sent messages, secure conversations with passwords or biometrics, share video messages, and exchange high-definition images.
Overall, WhatsApp’s new screen-sharing feature is now available for all users on Android, iOS, and Windows. It provides a convenient way to share your screen during video calls and enhances the overall video calling experience on the platform.
