Shoaib Akhtar’s Opinion on India’s Top Batsmen: Rohit’s Anxiety and Kohli’s Excessive Aggression (VIDEO)

Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has shared his assessment of Indian batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Akhtar praised MS Dhoni’s captaincy skills, saying he was a flawless captain who made a big difference on the field. However, Akhtar believes that after Dhoni passed the baton to Kohli and then Sharma, the Indian team’s captaincy suffered. He described Sharma as getting “panicky” and Kohli as being “over-aggressive” during critical moments.
In a conversation on the show ‘Backstage With Boria’, Akhtar discussed the reasons behind India’s failure to win any ICC trophies in the last 10 years. He highlighted the period between 2007 and 2013 as India’s golden period, when they won three different trophies.
Akhtar also praised Rohit Sharma’s batting skills but criticized his decision to take up captaincy. He said that Sharma panics during captaincy and should have reconsidered taking on the role. Akhtar even went on to say that Sharma is a better batsman than Kohli, citing his amazing shots and timing. However, he questioned whether Sharma is suited for captaincy and suggested that he should also question himself.
Despite his criticisms, Akhtar expressed hope that Sharma will prove his critics wrong in the upcoming 2023 World Cup tournament.
