Ravi Bishnoi showers praise on India’s star pacer Bumrah, saying everyone was eager to witness his performance
Dublin, Ireland: Ravi Bishnoi, a leg-spinner, praised Jasprit Bumrah, India’s star pacer, for his outstanding performance against Ireland in the opening T20I of the three-match series. Bumrah-led India won the match by two runs using the Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-curtailed match in Dublin on Friday, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
Bumrah made a remarkable comeback after suffering a back ailment. His last game for India was almost a year ago in a bilateral T20I series against Australia. Due to his back ailment, he missed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022 and had to undergo surgery and a long rehabilitation period.
In his comeback match, Bumrah won the toss and chose to field against Ireland. He had a great start, bowling an excellent first over. Although he conceded a boundary with his first delivery, his second ball resulted in an inside edge off Andy Balbirnie’s bat, knocking the stumps over. He also took the wicket of Lorcan Tucker in the same over. In addition to these two wickets, Bumrah bowled a yorker in the fourth delivery. He finished with figures of 2/24.
Bishnoi expressed his joy at witnessing Bumrah’s first over in his comeback. He mentioned that although the first delivery didn’t go as planned, the next five balls were entertaining to watch. Bishnoi stated that everyone had been waiting to see this version of Bumrah for a long time.
With a 1-0 lead, India will face Ireland in the second game of the series at The Village in Dublin on Sunday.
