Prithvi Shaw’s Impressive Streak in One Day Cup Continues as He Achieves Another Century and Reaches 3,000 List A Runs

Indian batter Prithvi Shaw showcased his exceptional form in the One Day Cup in England by scoring yet another century for Northamptonshire against Durham on Sunday.
Shaw amazed the fans in Chester-le-Sreet with a blazing knock of 125 runs off just 76 balls. His century included 15 fours and seven sixes, with a strike rate of 164.47.
The Indian batsman, who last played an international match in July 2021, reached his century in only 68 balls. He and Rob Keogh (42) helped their team chase down a target of 199 runs in just 25.4 overs.
Earlier, Durham was dismissed for 198 runs in 43.2 overs after choosing to bat first. Liam Trevaskis (37), captain Alex Lees (34), and Jonathan Bushnell (32) were the main contributors with the bat for the home side. Luke Procter took 4/34 in his nine overs.
With this century, Shaw has also crossed the milestone of 3,000 List-A runs. In 57 matches, he has scored 3,056 runs at an average of 57.66 and a strike rate of 126.69. He has achieved 10 centuries and 11 fifties in just 57 innings, with his highest score being 244.
Previously, Shaw recorded his highest List-A score of 244 runs off just 153 balls, leading Northamptonshire to an 87-run victory over Somerset in the One Day Cup at Northampton last Wednesday.
Shaw reached his double hundred in just 129 balls after completing his century in only 81 balls. As a result of his brilliant knock, Northamptonshire posted a total of 415/8 in 50 overs. Jack Brooks (3/75) and Danny Lamb (2/81) were the standout bowlers for Somerset. Somerset could only manage 328 runs in 45.1 overs, with Andrew Umeed (77), Lewis Goldsworthy (47), and Curtis Campher (49) being the key contributors with the bat.
Shaw’s score of 244 is the sixth-highest in List-A cricket, with the record for the highest score of 277 in 141 balls held by Narayan Jagadeeshan of Tamil Nadu against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
This is Shaw’s second List-A double hundred, making him the second-highest scorer in this category. Rohit Sharma holds the record for the most List-A double centuries, with three, all achieved in 50-over international cricket. Rohit’s highest score of 264 is also the highest-ever in international ODI cricket.
Shaw’s innings of 244 is the second-best List-A score in England, with Alistair Brown’s 268 for Surrey against Glamorgan in 2002 being the highest.
Currently, Shaw is the leading run-scorer in the One Day Cup, accumulating 429 runs in four innings at an average of 143.00 and a strike rate of over 152, including two centuries.
Another Indian player, Test middle-order veteran Cheteshwar Pujara, holds the second position with 329 runs at an average of 109.66 and a strike rate of 88.44. Pujara has scored two centuries and a fifty, with his best score being an unbeaten 117*. He represents Sussex.
