Mahira Khan discloses her diagnosis of bipolar disorder
Popular Pakistani actor Mahira Khan has revealed that she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She shared that her disorder was triggered by the backlash she faced after the release of the film ‘Raees’. During that time, Pakistani artists were banned from working in Indian films due to the Uri attack in 2016.
Mahira Khan stated that she ended up seeking help from a psychiatrist who diagnosed her with manic depression. She admitted that this was the first time she was opening up about it and wasn’t sure if she should. She has been taking anti-depressants for the past six to seven years and once tried to stop taking them, which led her into a very dark place.
Last year, her condition worsened, but she never projected her struggles outwardly. She mentioned that all the turmoil was inside her, but she had to work through it and dance through it.
