Indian creators on Twitter begin receiving ad-revenue share; subscribers respond
Blue ticked premium users who meet the minimum requirements of 500 followers and 15 million organic impressions have started receiving money from Twitter’s new ad-revenue sharing program for artists. The program, called “Creator Ads Revenue Sharing,” was launched by X (Twitter), owned by Elon Musk, last month. Users in India are also benefiting from this ad revenue model. Some users have already received payments and have shared images of their bank statements to show their gratitude.
One user, Abhishek Asthana, who goes by the handle “Gabbar,” claimed to have been paid Rs 2,09,282 by X. He has almost 1.4 million followers on Twitter. Another user shared a screenshot of receiving payment in their bank account and thanked Elon Musk.
Some users are creating memes in response to this payment system. They are jokingly suggesting that to earn money, one should first earn some money from a regular job, pay taxes to the government, criticize the government on Twitter for not utilizing taxes properly, and then earn ad revenue from X.
Elon Musk announced that only X Premium Blue ticked subscribers are eligible for ad revenue sharing. If users are not subscribed to Blue Premium, X will keep the advertising revenue. However, Elon Musk assured everyone that anyone can participate in this program.
